Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) represents the exact quantity of energy (in calories) your body expends just to perform baseline metabolic processes while at rest. This includes vital tasks like breathing, circulating blood, cellular recovery, and keeping body temperature stable.
BMR is your baseline electrical consumption. It does not account for the energy used in standing up, typing on a keyboard, eating, or walking. BMR makes up the largest segment of your daily energy budget (around 60% to 70%).
